Dog Bites and Animal Attacks

Williams & Walsh is dedicated to protecting the rights and interests of dog bite and animal attack victims. Pet owners have a responsibility to ensure that the safety of members of their community and the general public at-large is protected through the proper use of animal restraints and training. In turn, pet owners who neglect to properly train and/or restrain their animals are negligent and responsible for compensating victims for the physical and emotional injuries caused by their animal. Injuries may result when victims are merely jumped on, chased, or knocked to the ground.

Under the law of South Carolina, a person attacked by an animal is responsible for the injuries suffered only when they provoked the animal attack. In all other circumstances, the animal’s owner is responsible for compensating the victim for their physical and/or emotion injuries such as scars, broken bones, infections, lacerations, abrasions, puncture wounds, high anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and a reduced quality of life. Such injuries often result in high past, present, and/or future medical treatment costs, such as plastic surgery for disfigurement.

Williams & Walsh will vigorously investigate the facts, assess the damages, and pursue your claim against the responsible parties and insurance companies through negotiations and/or a trial. Contact Williams & Walsh for a free consultation if you or a loved one are the victim(s) of a dog bite and/or an animal attack.
